In order for a student to log in to a Chromebook via Classlink QuickCard, the Chromebook must be configured to do so.
You'll know immediately whether a Chromebook is configured for Classlink QuickCards.
When you open it, instead of seeing the normal Google Login page, you'll see something similar to this:
All a student has to do, is hold up their card so the camera can read the code, and they will be logged in!
Q: "Can a student still log in the regular way, even if they have a QuickCard?"
A: Yes! They can log in with their Email & Password on a normal Chromebook.
Q: "My Chromebooks should be set up for QuickCard login but they are not. What do I do?"
A: Put in a ticket at the HelpDesk, and include the Asset IDs (The 5-digit number on the barcode sticker on the bottom of the Chromebooks).
We will get it them switched over for you.
Q: "Can a student log in to a Chromebook set up for QuickCard Login, but use their regular username/password?"
A: Technically, yes, but with some caveats. The way to do this is to click the "Enter Google Account Info" button in
the bottom right, which will take you to the normal Google Login
screen.
Caveats:
- If a student
has already logged into that same Chromebook using a QuickCard, they
cannot login to it again using their email/password (unless the tech
dept. gets involved.) There is a boring technical reason for this, but
if it has to happen, have the student login on a Chromebook they've
never used before.
- The Chromebook will NOT remember their username, meaning any student logging in this way will have to type
their entire email address (not just click the icon of their name)
