We have officially switched Help Desk systems from the old crusty SolarWinds HelpDesk to a new fancy one called Zammad. (Oooh... Aaah...)
Why the switch?
Well, Zammad:
- ...is Free & Open Source.
- ...is secure.
- ...supports logging in with Google.
- ...has a built in Knowledge Base.
- ...is not butt-ugly (unlike SolarWinds).
- ...is dead simple to use.
The HelpDesk link has not changed;
It's still https://helpdesk.philomath.k12.or.us
This is what the login page looks like; You can simply click the Google button to sign in with your Google account.
After you log in, your screen will look like this. Click Create your first ticket.
Give your ticket a title (like a short summary) then a longer description in the Text field.
Fill
in the rest of the info, and remember some boxes won't appear until
after you've made other choices. (For example, if you say "I need a
device." a box will appear asking you to choose what kind of Device.)
Now hit Create.
You'll
get an email notifying you of your new ticket. You can respond to
tickets via email just like before, or you can log back in to the site
to respond.
Over on the left here, if you click Knowledge Base(KB),
you'll see some categories for common questions, with answers and
guides. We'll be continuously working on adding useful info here as the
need arises. Many of your questions may be answered in the KB so be sure
to poke around before submitting a ticket.
You can also go directly to the Knowledge Base with this link without even logging in (That's where you are right now!) https://helpdesk.philomath.k12.or.us/help/en-us
