While Google Drive CAN open Microsoft Office files (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) it isn’t happy about it and there can be some funny business. Usually it’s better to convert them to Google format.

Open the Web Browser (Google Chrome) and go to Google Drive (https://drive.google.com) |

Open the MS Office file. Notice the warnings about the filetype. |

Click File -> Save as Google (Slides, Docs, or Sheets) |
|
|
Now you’ll see a new file (Left) that is 100% compatible with Google. Check the new file for any errors, then delete the old one.
